Be your own Health Champion-Carve out the Time

As the 2024 Summer Olympics has come to an end and we will no longer see who will wear the GOLD and become a champion daily. It was so awesome to see the joy of success on the faces of the champions.

I came across a great interview with Gabby Thomas the USA Gold Medal track star who spoke about her training for her Olympic race. She said, “Every year, every month every minute was intentional”. Gabby trained while getting her undergraduate degree in Neurobiology and her master’s degree in Epidemiology (Wow, those classes sound a little terrifying to me). With her very busy schedule she still carved out time to train and compete in sprinting at the highest level. Olympians devote time and energy to the preparation of their bodies to be at their healthiest. The Olympics created champions, but so does LIFE. Obviously being an Olympic Champion isn’t for everyone, but everyone can strive to be at their healthiest.

Be your own Health Champion. Carve out the time to:

Shop and prepare Nutritious food – You gotta shop for fresh fruits and veggies a few times per week because they don’t keep for very long. Plan a little time for that extra shopping trip.

Get your heart pumping with exercise a min of 150 minutes per week – the easiest way to start is taking a walk a few times per week.

Sleep 7-8 hours per night - you probably have to put down that darn cell phone for this one!

Manage your life stress- the first step is to figure out where your stress is coming from and then you can figure out how you can reduce it.

Find time for social connections- Have some FUN with PEOPLE!  Easy, go to lunch or coffee with a friend or co-worker.

Great Health….Good Health….Better Than Yesterday Health takes some time and planning. Carve out that time in your schedule. You are worth it.
